DANA SNAPS AT MERAB

PLUS: PERRY CHALLENGES TILL

Hey fight fans! While we’re still recovering from Zombie’s retirement, the show must go on. The UFC Paris card is looking pretty good - we’re excited for that heavyweight matchup. Let’s jump into this week’s biggest news.

MIGHTY MOUSE WINS MASSIVE JIU-JITSU COMPETITION

Current ONE Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson just secured another honor by winning first place at the 2023 IBJJF Masters World jiu-jitsu competition in Las Vegas. Despite his successful career with a record 11 consecutive title defenses, he's now exploring different combat activities including jiu-jitsu. Check out his textbook armbar submission:

PAVLOVICH TO BE THE BACKUP FOR JONES VS MIOCIC

Sergei Pavlovich will be the backup fighter for the heavyweight title bout at UFC 295, opposing Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. Although Pavlovich will be ready to step in if needed, Jones would still have the option to decline a replacement fight. Currently ranked first in the heavyweight division, Pavlovich holds an impressive record of 18-1, with victories over Curtis Blaydes and Tai Tuivasa.

DANA NOT PLEASED WITH MERAB

Dana White is not a fan of Merab Dvalishvili's mentality regarding a bantamweight title shot. With best friend Aljamain Sterling no longer champ, Merab should be gearing up for his title opportunity but he’s also been pushing for Aljo’s immediate rematch. White stated that the UFC's goal is finding out who’s the best fighter in the world, even if it means fighting a friend.

TILL TAKES ON PERRY’S CHALLENGE

Darren Till is considering stepping into the boxing ring for a crossover showdown against former UFC fighter Mike Perry. Perry has been pursuing a fight with Till since a heated sparring session in 2018. While Perry is set to be the backup for Logan Paul vs. Dillon Danis, he's open to a bout with Till if he’s not needed for the main event. Till replied on X, stating “I say yes let’s go”.

SAUDI ARABIA BUYS PFL SHARES

The PFL has attracted a huge $100M backing from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). The Saudis investment not only secures a minority ownership stake in the PFL but also supports the promotion's expansion into the pay-per-view realm. The PFL's recent signings of big names like Ngannou and Jake Paul have also strengthened their place in the fight industry.

Started editing the next doc this week: Valentina Shevchenko. I’ve been wanting to tell her story for a while - excited to finally do it. I’ve also finally settled on the products for the first merch drop. I’ll be announcing the drop on Patreon first so the Patrons get exclusive access, then here in the newsletter. Enjoy UFC Paris!
