ISLAM AND OLIVEIRA TO RUN IT BACK

While it seemed that Makhachev would have problems finding an opponent for UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, Dana White announced that Charles Oliveira will fight him again in a rematch. It comes as a surprise because Oliveira previously hinted that he might need more time to prepare and get back in the octagon.

CHIMAEV TO MAKE HIS RETURN AGAINST COSTA

Last seen in September 2022 inside the octagon when he ran through Kevin Holland, Chimaev will make his return at UFC 294 against Paulo Costa. The two also got into an altercation at the UFC Performance Institute last year. This fight also means Chimaev will move up to middleweight amid issues with weight cutting.

ADESANYA TO FACE STRICKLAND AT UFC 293

After the events of UFC 290, it was all but confirmed that Adesanya would defend his title against Du Plessis. However, the situation has changed. Sean Strickland now enters the picture after Du Plessis won’t be able to fight in such a short turnaround at UFC 293 in September in Sydney.

ROB FONT STEPS IN TO FACE SANDHAGEN

Umar Nurmagomedov pulled out of the UFC Nashville main event, scheduled to take place on August 5th against Cory Sandhagen, due to a freak injury sustained during sparring. After some uncertainty about whether Sandhagen would remain on the main card, it is now confirmed that Rob Font has decided to step in and replace Umar Nurmagomedov.

LEON EDWARDS TO FIGHT AT UFC 295

In an interview with TNT sports, the UFC President stated that Leon Edwards will possibly fight at UFC 295, which is set to take place at Madison Square Garden. While there are rumors that Edwards might face Colby Covington, White didn't confirm this matchup. However, it is confirmed that UFC 295's main event will be headlined by Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, making Edwards the co-main event if he indeed fights on the card.
